IPS Sponsors Tables for Legends and Leaders Dinner to Support Boys and Girls Club of Huntsville

Four-time world heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield was in Huntsville Thursday for a cause near and dear to his personal life.

Holyfield the guest speaker at the annual Leaders and Legends dinner sponsored by the Boys and Girls Clubs of North Alabama. He said he’s thankful for the  Boys and Girls Club, crediting it with helping steer his direction in life.

“The Boys Club had what I didn’t have,” Holyfield said Thursday. “It was a structured program and was in line with my mother’s vision. From six years old to twenty one, that’s a long time, I made the Olympic Team.”

Holyfield said he was able to reach the Olympics because of what the Club was able to provide for him.

“My mother had a sixth grade education,” he said. “My father didn’t go to school at all. They followed direction. The point of, to go to another level in life. The Boys Club had a lot of things I wouldn’t have been able to get involved in to do.”
